I remember dreaming when I was a youngster of what I wanted to become when I was grown up...Astronaut? No. Doctor? No. Chef? No. Instead I wanted to become a video shop lady and/or a Bond Girl. Clearly I had big plans for myself! There is always so much pressure around who you are going to be in the future, instead of just enjoying the moments we are in and seeing who we even are as a person.
After High School I worked for a bit in meaningless jobs and then I decided to kick it overseas. Become a new me and see what was out there. I landed up on a luxury yacht for a 6 week trip and 6 years later I was still there! I traveled the world, I saw some of the most amazing sights that most people will only see in books. I slept under the Milky Way with nothing but open blue on either side, I climbed volcanoes, I jumped out of planes, swam with stingrays and salty pigs, I learnt to surf with whales breaching in the background...best days of my life! But my heart began to ache for family.
I packed up my huge shoe and trinket collection and flew back to SA. Woah, was land life a shock! I had romanticised what being home would be like and I yearned for the life of the open water again. But I stuck it out and had a total “what am I going to do with my life” moment. My incredible Mom who raised my sister and I, working multiple jobs and not complaining once about it, told me to get my ass into gear and make a decision. Basically, grow up Roxy. So Momaloo started teaching me design and I was instantly hooked! I needed to turn 30 and have a mini meltdown to figure out what i wanted to do with my life and here I am now. I am so in love with my job, early mornings and late nights don’t feel like a drag (well a little bit in winter). I find I look for beauty in everything. Any designer you talk to wants to change the world one perfectly designed poster at a time. I’m so thankful for where I am and for the people that supported me and still support me to this day. The brain of a creative person is a perfect chaos and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have worked with Roxy Ellis and her fantastic business Rocket Designs for over five years. The standard of her work is exceptional but most important for me is her originality. It is very rare to find designers that constantly delight and surprise with their ideas. Roxy is my ‘go to’ person whenever I need an injection of creativity in my business and she never lets me down. She keeps to deadlines, is a great communicator and has a passion for her work.
I would highly recommend her to any business.

Fatboy & Co.
My company, Fatboy and Co., has been working with Rocket Designs for the past 6 years. Roxy Ellis transformed my entire Company Image to a new level. Her work has helped my printing company stand out in a highly competitive market. Her ideas are fresh and to say she thinks out of the box will be a complete understatement. Rocket Designs continue to inspire me to become a better Printing Company on a daily basis. Freak... I think she is the coolest designer I have ever worked with!
I just wanted to say thank you so much for the work and interest you put into taking care of my businesses logo's for me. I’ve been trying for about 10 years to get it right myself but there has always been something missing and I’ve never figured out what it was, you, you managed to get it right in a week. I will definitely be referring you to everyone I know!
Thanks again for making my business stand out!
Roxy was easy to work with and knows her stuff. She listened to me, saw what I was trying to articulate and created some really beautiful branding for my company. I'm still excited every time I look at my logo! Thanks, Roxy!
